Kidney Day is Getting Closer!

Chad, my coordinator from U of M called and he has found a potential match for me! I have to have blood drawn and they will test my blood with the recipient’s to see how they match. The coordinator thinks it will be mid November before the test results are back.

As I thought, this is not a rushed thing. I get to schedule it (they defer to the donor.) He said most people don’t opt to have surgery around the holidays so I will go definitely wait until after Thanksgiving. Maybe I can schedule it in December. I hate to make the recipient wait too long.  Anyway, progess is being made! Hopefully the recipient will have a new kidney for 2011 if not sooner. I love the thought of helping someone be free from dialysis. It’s great to see Jackie free of it.

  5. Good Luck! Sending prayers to both you and your recipient. I gave my mom a kidney 7 months ago. You are an amazing person for giving such a wonderful gift.
