Adventures of a Kidney Donor

Not a Match Made in Heaven

Chad from University of Michigan called just now and the cross matching between the potential recipient and me isn’t looking good. They are going to run more tests but he didn’t sound optimistic. He will know at the end of the month. I knew this might happen and tried not to get too attached to the prospect. I know it needs to be a good match and we don’t want this to all be for nothing. Much better to be disappointed now than to have the recipient and me heartbroken because the kidney was rejected after surgery. I am sure I will still be able to help someone one day.

That was the logical portion of the blog. Now on to the emotional part. I am disappointed. This has not been a good week (customers mean to me @ work) and this is the icing on the cake. I will be sad for awhile then focus on the next step…

  1. Don’t be sad, Anne….We love you and you’re a wonderful person!! Everything happens for a reason (kidney part not patron part). 😉
